Women's rugby edged by Kenyon

The women's rugby team came up short against Kenyon 5-0 Saturday. The match marked the next to last meeting of the team.

Despite the score, the Rhino Ruggers felt they played well.

"We completely dominated the entire game," first-year Blair Winter said. She said the other team was, "on our side of the field twice the entire game." Kenyon's lone score came from a break away.

Tina Barksdale, college junior, said the match was "a little frustrating."

"If we played them again we could probably beat them," she said. "We played the entire game in their 22."

Winter attributed the Rugger's dominace to their strategy of concentrating on rucking. She said it was the team's main strategy and that it paid off.

Barksdale said, "It was a really nice day which was really different." The past few weeks, the team has played in muddy weather.

The Ruggers will play in a tournament at Marietta College this weekend. Five or six teams will be there and the Ruggers will play two or three games. This tournement will mark the end of their season.

Men's rugby loses to Wooster

The men's rugby team dropped a match 29 to 14 against Wooster Saturday. The game was probably their last match of the year leaving the team at 0-5 for the season.

Team member junior Fernando Bretos said, "It was kind of sloppy. It was not very fluid but some guys played really well."

Senior David Reeves and sophomore Felix Brooks-Church each scored.

"The tackling could have been better," Bretos said.

Senior Jeff Kurzweil said, " the only reason we lost was their desire was greater than ours. But everybody went out and had a great time."

The team visited Columbus on the weekend of the twelfth where the team played really well according to Bretos.

"We didn't have as much enthusiasm," Bretos said about the difference between last weeks game and the Columbus tournement.

Kurzweil said the two teams were evenly matched.
