Downtown Oberlin: What do you want to see?

A group of students met to discuss long-term development of the Oberlin downtown area on Tuesday evening.

So, if you could move any retail store to downtown Oberlin, what store would you choose?

Lisa Dadabo is a college first-year.
Oberlin College could use a CD store or a used book store.

Rebecca Deed is a college sophomore.
I'd want a health food store.

Jacob Miller is a college first-year.
I'd like a department store.

Limmie Pulliam is a conservatory junior.
I think a used CD store would be great!! It would be a good place to for students to sell and buy CD's, that way you would also cut down on KIOSK postings. Also, maybe a decent bookstore like Borders. Enough said!

Jill Malek is a college first-year.
I think a drugstore would be nice.

Katy Durham-Hammer is a college sophomore.
My first thought was, Music. But the Co-op bookstore has music and a listening booth. Then, I remembered walking downtown salivating for a California burrito or some super nachos. So, maybe a Mexican food place that delivers late. Finally, I remembered Starbucks and Frappaccinos and big glitzy chain operations. ava Zone makes great steamers, and nothing beats a smile from the owner or the courtesy of her sons. When I came to Oberlin I thought downtown was dead. It has taken time, but downtown has proven to me that it has what I want and more if I take the time to look.

Alex Johnston is a college senior.
I'd think I'd want a musical instrument store.

Nicholas Dent is a college first-year.
I'd want a music store for CDs and musical supplies.

Paul Pitcher is a college sophomore.
I'd want a CD store or Radio Shack.

Joshua Davis is a college senior:
I think I'd want a music store.

Erika Hansen is a college first-year.
I'd like to have a CD warehouse, a real music store with vinyl.

Mara Zonderman is a college junior.
Definitely not another coffee shop! We can barely support the ones we have. A bagel place, though, that would be nice.

Sam Greenburg is a college first-year.
I'd like to see a bookstore.

Victoria Raven is a college first-year.
I'd like a place that sells bagels.

Andrew Smith is a college first-year.
I'd like a food store, so I could buy things. I'd want it to be closer than the one we use now.
