Arts...Out of Town

So it's snowing in March. No biggie; just find a creative way to spend these cold, dreary afternoons. Whether you dig Biohazard or Buto-Sha, you're set.

Tonight, the Cleveland Cinematheque presents Going All the Way, starring Ben Affleck (of Chasing Amy fame) and Jeremy Davies. Set in post-Korean War 1954 America, the film has been dubbed a "highly hormonal memoir." Go see what it's all about at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $6. For more information, call (216)421-7450.

This weekend is your last chance to catch the Buto-Sha Tenkei's Nocturne at the Wexner Center's Performance Space. The Buto-Sha Tenkei dance ensemble presents surreal imagery rooted in Japanese culture by a troupe of professionals with over 20 years experience. Nocturne runs through Mar. 7 at 8 p.m. and Mar. 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 for the general public. For tickets and information, call (614) 292-3535.

It's also your last chance to catch Lorain County Community College's production of Brecht's The Good Person of Setzuan. The play runs tonight and Mar. 7 at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. For tickets and information, call (800) 995-5222 ext. 4040.

For you closet alternative popsters, don't miss Third Eye Blind and Smashmouth coming to the Agora Ballroom Mar. 11. Tickets available through TicketMaster at (216) 241-5555.

Biohazard plays Peabody's DownUnder Mar. 12. Tickets available through TicketMaster at (216) 241-5555. For more information, call (216) 241-2604.

If you haven't yet checked out FAVA's 19th Annual Photography Show, maybe you best stay in town this weekend after all. Featuring 65 works, including prize-winners of local fame. The exhibit is free to the public. For more information, call (440) 774-7158.

The Canton Youth Symphony, with the Canton Civic Opera's Children's Chorus, will perform three works by Mozart, Bach's Cantata 208 and excerpts from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus. Tickets are $2 for students, $4 others. For more information, call (330) 452-3434.

Japanese filmmaker Yasuzo Maumura unfortunately passed away ten years ago, but thankfully, the Cleveland Cinematheque is hosting a series of his works through this month. Mar. 8, Giants and Toys and The Black Test Car show beginning at 7 p.m. Both are clever films of espionage and exposé. Presented in scope print. Admission is $6. For more information, call (216) 421-7450.
