You Can Say that Again

"I think for the most part, though, we got caught up in their Friday night wrestling tactics."

-Clay Massi
College senior

A college junior, Limouze comes off of a big year last season, which set up lofty expectations for this one. In last Saturday's meet against Ohio Wesleyan, he came through once again. Limouze was the meet's big winner, taking three seperate events. He easily won the 200 yard individual medeley, the 200 yard butterfly and the 200 yard backstroke in helping the men to a 120-104 victory over OWU.

IN THE LOCKERROOM WITH...Virginia Covalt

This week we spent a few minutes chatting with Virginia Covalt, the first women's equipment coordinator at Philips, a job she has had for almost 19 years. In addition to all the women's varsity sports, Covalt manages uniforms for three men's sports: men's basketball, swimming and men's tennis.

Do you play sports?
No. Well, I play softball some, but never on a team.

Do you like to watch sports?
Oh yeah. I love them. Basketball, football, all of them.

Have Oberlin athletes changed much over the years you have worked here?
No. Not much at all. They are still pretty cool.

Have the uniforms the teams wear changed much over the years?
Yeah. They don't wear the sweats that look like Burger King anymore. When I first started working here they had sweats like looked like Burger King uniforms. No one would wear them. Now they have really nice uniforms. They are made out of better materials.

What kind of detergent to you use?
Tide.

Do you have big washing machines?
Yeah. We use commercial-size washers and dryers.

Do the players get to pick their own numbers?
Pretty much. The returning students get their pick and then the rest get what's left. I've never had a problem with the kids.

Do you think students at Oberlin are weird?
No. We're all weird. We wouldn't be normal if we weren't weird. I've never had any problems with any students here.

Do you think it is going to be a cold winter?
They say it is. I'm sort of expecting it. Hopefully it won't be.

When do you think we'll get our first big snow?
January.

Are you excited about Thanksgiving?
Sort of.

Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving food?
I guess it would be chicken, since I don't like turkey.

Is there anything else you want to say?
I think the administration here is a lot better. I like it better anyway. Some people don't like it, but you can't please everybody. I think I've heard more compliments than complaints.
