Arts...out of town

Arts...Out of Town makes its debut this week after months of absence. Now that school's settling in, why not get away from it?

Next week, Case Western Reserve University hosts renowned author Lawrence Levine, Professor of History at George Mason University. Levine will deliver a keynote address on the state of American campuses for the third annual Humanities Week celebration. Also at Case Western Reserve University next week, witness Belle and her Beast simultaneously in German, Spanish, French and Japanese with English narration. More action at Case Western Reserve University: check out "Land Views," an exhibit of panoramic photographs by David Stichweh and mixed-media collages by Leslie Miller, assistant director of our own Allen Memorial Art Museum. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Cleveland Museum of Art, take part in an all-day drawing workshop led by Sun-Hee Choi. Fees are $20 for CMA members, $40 for non-members, including materials and parking. For more information, call (216) 421-7340.

Israeli film The Milky Way shows at the Cleveland Museum of Art this Sunday, September 12, at 2 p.m. Dealing with issues of life under military rule in 1964 Galilee, the film is a Cleveland premiere. Admission is $4 CMA members, $6 non-members. For more information, call (216) 421-7340.

An adult water color studio class is scheduled for Wednesday September 15 at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Instructor Jesse Rhinehart leads a pricey but extensive workshop through fine art. On September 15 at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Speaking in Strings, directed by Paoloa di Florio, shows at 7 p.m. Starring Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, the film tells the tale of a gifted musician who earns the reputation of "bad girl of violin."
