Aug.
29, 10:05 a.m. A student reported his wallet missing from his dorm
room in Fairchild. The wallet contained approximately $40 cash,
2 credit cards and personal identification.
Aug.
29, 2:25 p.m. A resident of Saunders reported her bicycle stolen
from the north side of Lord either May 17th or 18th, just prior
to leaving for the summer. The bicycle is a Roadmaster Silverado
Pass, blue/green in color, 21 speed, valued at $200. The bicycle
is registered with the City of Oberlin.
Aug.
31, 11:49 p.m. An unknown female reported a broken door window in
the basement of Wilder Hall leading into the DeCafe. The glass was
cleaned up and a work order was filed for repairs.
Aug.
31, 5:20 a.m. An officer on patrol in the north quad area observed
two broken globe lights. A work order was placed for repairs.
Aug. 31, 1:04 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with an ill
employee at Stevenson Hall. An ambulance also responded and transported
the employee to Allen Medical Center for treatment.
Aug. 31, 10:13 p.m. A resident reported an odor of alcohol coming
from a room at Barrows Hall. Officers and the Resident Coordinator
responded and a group of underage students were confronted about
consuming alcohol. The Dean’s Office was notified for follow-up.
Sept.
1, 10:17 a.m. A staff member reported finding a gun in Talcott lounge
on the first floor. Officers responded and the gun was found to
be unloaded and non-functional. The weapon was turned over to the
Oberlin Police Department.
Sept.
1, 2:07 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded
to a fire alarm at South Hall. Upon investigation a bad detector
was located near the women’s bathroom on the first floor.
An electrician was contacted for replacement.
Sept.
1, 3:09 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with a student who
was having trouble breathing at Philips Gym. The student was transported
to Allen Medical Center for treatment.
Sept.
2, 4:05 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a
fire alarm at Noah Hall. A sock was found in the shade of a lamp,
possibly not noticed while unpacking, and caught fire activating
the alarm. There were no injuries and there was no damage to the
room.
Sept.
2, 4:29 a.m. The Oberlin Fire Department advised of an unauthorized
bonfire in Tappan Square. The students responsible were instructed
on how to obtain a permit. The fire was extinguished.
