Sex
Offense Education Revised
To
the Oberlin Community:
I have received
and accepted the recommendations of the Task Force on Sexual Education
and Ethics for expanding campus education on sexual violence, beginning
in the fall of 2002. I commend the task force for a job well done.
The recommendations of the task force include an educational statement
on sexual consent, mandatory education for all students in their
first semester at Oberlin, and additional staff and programming
throughout the year. I have asked the task force to continue to
meet next year to monitor our progress in getting these efforts
off the ground and to explore further ideas for the sexual offense
education program.
Lori Morgan Flood will be assuming the permanent position of Director
of Health Education, and her primary responsibilities will include
coordinating the college's sexual offense education program. I thank
Lori for taking on these new responsibilities and each of the members
of the task force for their excellent work this spring.
