Two Students Denied Visas

Two international students from Pakistan and China admitted to Oberlin’s freshman class for this academic year have been unable to obtain student visas to the United States and have been given no notification of how long they will have to wait in their own countries. Three others, from India, Venezuela and China, were also waylaid by the visa process but are set to arrive soon, according to Assistant Dean of Studies Ellen Sayles.

Fourth Meal Fails to Keep Spirit in Dascomb Move

Fourth meal is a legacy, an Oberlin tradition as beloved and bizarre as streaking through Mudd during midterms. However, Sunday night’s unveiling of the "new fourth meal" made it clear that midnight snacking is now the antithesis of what late-night dining at Oberlin once was. Up-rooted and moved a half-acre across Wilder Bowl from its former base in the Rat to the horrifying neon glow of Dascomb’s cafeteria, food options may have expanded, but all character and charm of the Rat have been lost.

Men’s Soccer Team Undefeated in Four Contests

“Dusting off any cobwebs from last season and building on a solid performance in the Lycoming College Classic, the Oberlin men’s soccer team secured back-to-back wins last weekend. An Oberlin team boasting a talented mix of youth and experience defeated both Olivet College and Anderson University with identical 2-1 scores. Last weekend’s victories secured a 3-0-1 record for the Yeomen.

Students Call for APA Studies

To the Editors:

Asian American Alliance was started in 1972 as a means to implement Asian Pacific American (APA) Studies to the Oberlin College curriculum. APA Studies is not only vital to the growth and education of current students, but it is also an integral part of the complete establishment of Comparative American Studies. As the officers of AAA, it is with much regret and frustration that we must continue the thirty-year struggle for APA Studies without our mentor, advisor, and friend, Professor Charfauros-McDaniel. However, despite the recent setbacks in our movement, we remain strong in our convictions to see an APA Studies program on this campus.
