College Faculty to Vote on Eliminating CR/NE System

A radical overhaul of Oberlin’s grading system may be approved Tuesday, Dec. 10 by College faculty, which would eliminate the credit/no-entry option, add the grades “D” and “F” to transcripts and introduce a new “pass/fail” system.

Hahn Proves Her Prowess to Finney Crowd

Finney Chapel was packed the Friday before break with classical music fans eagerly awaiting one of the most prestigious performers to visit Oberlin this year. Some expected Hilary Hahn to live up to her reputation as “America’s best” young classical musician (according to Time Magazine), some expected Hahn to be nothing more than a hot shot technicion straight out of Curtis with no real artistic power in her playing. Many were intrigued by her success, her contract with Sony, her publicity, and of course the posters that have been plastered all over campus for weeks.

Women’s Basketball Beats Ursuline for First Win

The Oberlin College women’s basketball team completed its first weeks of play with a record of 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NCAC.
The Yeowomen kicked off their season at the Greater Cleveland Classic Tournament at Baldwin-Wallace College. After the team fell to Baldwin-Wallace 71-50 on Nov. 22, they played Notre Dame of Ohio on Nov. 23 and lost 105-67. The team’s lack of personnel was cited as key in both defeats.

Does the MRC Exist in Name Only?

To the Editors:

With the re-instatement of the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) interns last semester, there was a sense of victory for the students over the administration. Though this may be true, it is so only to a miniscule extent. The MRC is still struggling to keep its head above water, without any help from the College.
