They began their careers in 1994 as a student chamber sextet performing in concert with Oberlin's Contemporary Music Ensemble. Less than four years later, eighth blackbird is noted for performances of contemporary music in festivals and chamber-music series across the United States, where the group has gained recognition from composers and critics alike.
