Reunion Weekend 2008

(A) Beth Fouhy ’83, a reporter with the Associated Press, spoke about traveling the presidential campaign trail with Hillary Clinton.
(B) Retired foreign service officer and ambassador William Rugh ’58 took part in the panel "Who are the International Peacemakers?"
(C) Maestro David Zinman ’58 conducted a special Commencement concert in Finney Chapel.
(D) Honorary Degree recipient Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International, delivered the Commencement address.
(E) Reuniting at a Conservatory alumni reception were 1988 grads Vicki Gau, Caroline Coade, Marcia Bean, and Carrie Smrstik Gentner ’87.
(F) Stan Richards and the Class of 1958 Reunion Gift Committee announced their class gift of more than $7 million.

A record number of alumni and parents enjoyed a picture-perfect (and climate-neutral) Commencement/ Reunion weekend in May, taking their pick of 200-plus events ranging from an Oberlin Quadapalooza family show to a 40th-reunion panel titled "A Structured Discussion about Sex, Drugs, and Rock ’n Roll after 60."

(H) Oberlin Shansi capped its 100th anniversary year with a special set of reunion events, including a Japanese drumming performance and workshop.
(I) Class of 1958 alums gathered near the football scoreboard funded by their classmate, Robert Fishback.
(J) A Javanese dancer in Asia House.(K) Julian Smith ’69 discussed "Cultural Landscapes and Cultural Identity: Architecture Before and After Modernism."
(L) President Marvin Krislov delivered his first Commencement address.
(M, N) Bestselling author and musician James McBride ’79 received an honorary degree.
