I teach Learning Disabilities at Langston Middle School in Oberlin, Ohio. Langston operates a model four program in which three special education teachers use a team teaching approach. All of the us teach reading; one teaches Language Arts for all the identified seventh and eighth graders and one class of Science. One teaches Math to all identified students and I teach Social Studies to all identified students and Language Arts to sixth graders. We are very interested in new trends in Special Education across the nation. Since we have started our team teaching all identified students feel apart of Langston. All three Special Education teachers are members of grade level teams within the school. Two of us are members of the sixth grade team. We meet three times a week and plan activities for all the sixth graders at Langston. Some of our activities are; a day in Ancient Egypt, Rocket Derby, Egg Project, Greek Olympics, and a class trip to Washington D.C. All identified students at Langston are included in all grade level activities.

I am also the Building Technology Coordinator. I am very interested in and excited to see the advances that technology is offering to special education students. I have done and continue to do inclusion projects with members of my team. I am a member of the Electric Oberlin Group, a group dedicated to the study of Oberlin History in electronic form. Next fall I am planning on doing a project with my seventh and eighth grade Social Studies students using Oberlin College students as mentors. They will research an Oberlin History subject and publish the results on the EOG homepage.

I live in Oberlin with my husband, Richard, and our four sons; Scott, Alex, Andy and Tim.
