Gail Wood is in her 28th year of teaching, her 22nd year in the Oberlin School District. Her home-away-from-home is in the 3rd/4th Grade Open Room at Prospect Elementary School in Oberlin, Ohio.
She is one of the founding members of the Electronic Oberlin Group, an organization of volunteers dedicated to making readily available in electronic format a wide range of materials and resources on Oberlin, its diverse people, and its unique history.
Along with two other third grade teachers at Prospect Elementary School, she edited Oberlin: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, an introduction to Oberlin history for students of all ages. The book is used as the local history textbook for third graders in Oberlin. The text of the book and many of the photographs are accessible on the Electronic Oberlin Group website. Bound copies of the book with additional illustrations and student reflection pages are available for purchase.
She is married to Reid Wood, an assistant professor at Lorain County Community College and is the mother of two sons, Alex and Eli.
