Locating Periodicals

19th Century Masterfile/Poole's Plus

This online index includes Poole's Index to Periodical Literature, 1802-1907, which is the most comprehensive index to popular American periodical literature for the nineteenth-century.  If you are looking for articles on particular TOPICS relating to women in ÒmainstreamÓ periodicals, this is your resource.

History of women periodicals

                        Main Microfilm         .H6294 [234 reels]

This set includes many 19th century U.S. womenÕs magazines.  This is the only access we have to most of these periodicals!  For a list of periodicals included in this set, consult the guide (listed below), or search OBIS for Òhistory of women periodicalsÓ Ð then limit to the English language.  Unfortunately there is no separate indexing for these journals, so ÒbrowsingÓ them on microfilm is the way to find out whatÕs there.
