In the past students have signed up for this course for a variety of reasons. It would help me plan our work for the rest of the semester better if you would first tell me more about yourself and why you enrolled in this class. This is not a test of any sort--I won't be reading this writing to diagnose your comma problems or evaluate your logic. I'd just like to get to know you a little better through your writing and to find out what you're expecting.

For the rest of this hour I'd like you to simply talk to us on paper about yourself. You're welcome to tell me anything you think I need to know, but if you would like some help getting started, here are some questions I'm especially curious about:
