I search for empirically justified, mathematical/computational models of:
-
•the processes underlying decision making;
-
•the processes underlying complementary capabilities that contribute to decision making, such as interval timing and instrumental/operant conditioning;
-
•and processes that may be built from complex sequences of simpler decisions, such as problem solving and planning.
I attempt to build and test models that are maximally simple while remaining consistent with findings in both psychology and neuroscience, with an emphasis on methods borrowed from dynamical systems, control theory, decision theory, signal detection theory, signal processing, economics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
