Hypertext's relation to film is commonly looked over in discussing the hypertext's past or future (although this thesis does include one author whose vision of hypertext is informed by film). Many recent films have begun to explore the possibilities of interlinking or multilinear narratives, and it's important to consider their influence on the future of hypertext. Run Lola Run shows three alternative versions of the same half-hour of time. Most films (and hypertexts, too) have mutually inclusive storylines - in other words, nothing occurs in one segment of text or film that contradicts what occurs in another. They coexist without the reader having to decide between mutually exclusive storylines, like Lola's three lives or Victory Garden's forking paths.
