FEBRUARY 28, 2001--"Social Justice in the Bush Era" is the title of a community address to be given on March 8 in Finney Chapel by cleric and activist Tony Campolo. The talk is part of a three-day slate of events presented by the Oberlin Christian Alumni Association and the Office of the Chaplains. The founder of a venture ministry that nurtures and mentors young ministries to at-risk children and youth in inner cities, the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education/Tony Campolo Ministries, Campolo is associate pastor of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church of West Philadelphia and professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern College. Campolo and his wife Peggy will present their opposing perspectives in a "Dialogue about Homosexuality and the Christian Faith" at 4:30 P.M. on March 8 in Severance 108. A regular guest on Nightline, Crossfire, Politically Incorrect and CNN News, Campolo co-hosted his own television series Hashing It Out on the Odyssey Network and presently hosts From Across the Pond, a weekly program on the Premier Radio Network in England. The author of 28 books, Campolo’s most recent titles are Revolution and Renewal: How Churches are Saving Our Cities and Let Me Tell You A Story: Life Lessons form Unexpected Places and Unlikely People. |
