OBERLIN COLLEGE SPONSORS JOURNALISM CONFERENCE SEPTEMBER 15 AND 16 |

SEPTEMBER 6, 2001--Oberlin College will host the campus's first journalism conference Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. The conference will feature speakers from local and national publications, and workshops to help individuals prepare for a career in journalism. Michael Dirda (OC '70), a journalist with The Washington Post, will headline the conference as a keynote speaker. Other speakers will include Todd Hutlock, from The Alternative Press; Benjamin Wittes, from The Washington Post; and Randy Roguski, from the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Topics discussed at the conference will include libel and copyright; production, photography and design; press release writing; and networking and internships. On Sunday, students will have a chance to meet with staff members from various campus publications. Representatives from As I Am, the Oberlin Alumni Magazine, Oberlin Online, Nommo, The Grape, The Rain, The Review, and Voces will be available to meet with students and answer questions. All conference events are free and open to the public. Conference sponsors include the Oberlin College Office of the President and the Office of College Relations. |
