Oberlin Online News Story:
Student Coalition Created Labor-Friendly Purchasing Policy

Whereas Oberlin College is committed to the promotion of "social awareness, social responsibility, and capacity for moral judgement," it is incumbent upon the College to not contribute to the illegal mistreatment of workers. The College will never knowingly purchase clothing from manufacturers who use sweatshop labor at any phase of the production process.

In order to ensure this pledge, Oberlin College will adopt the Oberlin College Sweatshop-Free Apparel Code of Purchasing as college policy. By October of 1999, the College will have created the Committee outlined in the Code of Purchasing and publicized its intent to promote sweatshop free apparel.
