A native of New York City, DANIEL MICHALAK (Vocal Coach/Rehearsal Pianist)
joined the Oberlin Conservatory staff in 1999. He served as a vocal coach/accompanist
at the Indiana University School of Music (Bloomington) from 1991 to
1999. At Oberlin he has also been music director for Richard Wargo's
The Music Shop (directed by Jonathon Field) and Seymour Barab's Fortune's
Favorites (directed by Jennifer Bertoni). He holds degrees in music and
in piano performance from Harvard University and Indiana University,
and is also a prolific composer; his song cycle A Life Filled With Flowers
and Two Poems of Maya Angelou were both performed at Oberlin this year.
