Neurophysiology Student Projects, May 2000:

To the right are Jeff Price and Zoli Szuts working on their neurophysiology project.  Their study focuses on the electrophysiological response of  exogenous serotonin on  buccal ganglion neurons in the fresh water snail, Helisoma trivolvis.  They hypothesize exogenous serotonin will increase K+ conductance, and thus inhibit buccal neuron B4 activity. Below, Kate Davoli with her neurophysiology set-up.  Kate's neurophysiology project is to elucidate the effect of fenvalerate on survival of the sciatic nerve of the frog, Rana pipiens.  Fenvalerate is a type II Pyrethroid insecticide.
