The following is a summary of security reports for the previous week.
Sept. 25, 1:40 a.m. Officer responded to a report of an upset student in the Shuttle Bus. The officer attempted to confer with the student, but the student did not want to talk with anyone at this time.
1:45 a.m. Officer responded to a request to secure the computer lounges in Mudd. Upon arrival, no monitor could be found and the students and computers had been left unattended in the lounges. Matter to be referred to Mudd staff.
5:30 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a missing calculator from Wilder Hall Snack Bar. The calculator was a Texas Instruments calculator and was valued at $100.
11:07 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a missing wallet from Stevenson. The wallet was later recovered and all items were intact with the exception of $15 cash.
Sept. 26, 12:16 a.m. Officer responded to a report of annoying phone calls to a student. The calls were not threatening in nature. Matter under investigation.
9:30 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a missing trunk from the storage area of South Hall. The trunk contained miscellaneous items valued at $657. Matter under investigation.
3:29 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a the loss of a lamp arm from Fairchild storage. The lamp arm was black in color an approximately four feet long; it was valued at $45.
4:13 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a missing backpack from Wilder Hall gameroom. Student had left backpack on a chair while in the gameroom. Backpack contained several books, computer disks and a checkbook.
8:13 p.m. Officer responded to a report of an unstable student who needed looked in on. Student was found to be OK; incident was referred to staff of Student Life and Services.
Sept. 27, 12:50 a.m. Officer responded to a report of an injured student in the Disco. The student was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital, treated for a sprained knee and released.
3:10 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a request to remove an unwanted student from another student's room. Matter is being handled within Student Life and Services.
5:30 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a stolen wallet from a locker at Philips Gym. Item taken included a small green wallet, misc. papers; no cash.
Sept. 28, 1:52 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Talcott. The alarm was activated by smoke from cooking in the kitchen. A work order was filed for a faulty exhaust fan.
10:03 p.m. Officer responded to the report of an injured bat on the east sidewalk of South Hall. The bat was transported to the Safety and Security Officer and retained for testing.
10:58 p.m. Officer responded to a harassing phone call complaint at Lord. Matter under investigation.
11:38 p.m. Officer responded to a fire alarm at Burton Hall. The alarm activated by smoke when a scarf caught fire from a burning candle. There was no damage to the room.
Sept. 29, 10:31 a.m. Officer responded to a fire alarm on the second floor of Talcott. The alarm was activated due to a faulty detector. College electricians were notified for repaired.
2:13 p.m. Officer responded to a reported theft of a cellular phone and misc. other items. The items were placed in a box and left in storage over the summer. Incident under investigation.
10:09 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a streaker in the area of Johnson House. Description was given of the subject as a white male, six foot tall, brown hair, beard and mustache and wearing only a shirt.
Sept. 30, 9:05 a.m. Officers responded to a report of students scaling the east side of Mudd Library. Students were protesting live animal experimentation on campus. Matter is being addressed within Student Life and Services.
9:30 a.m. Officer responded to a report of damage to a vending machine in Bailey. A dollar bill had been placed in the validator and then attempts were made to remove the bill damaging the machine. It is unknown if any product is missing at this time.
8:15 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a damaged bulletin board in the Conservatory. The hinges on the board had been pulled away from the wall by a student causing the board to be insecure. Carpenters will repair.
Oct. 1, 12:21 a.m. Officer responded to the report of a student experiencing an asthma attack. Student was transported to her dorm.
2:54 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a non-College male attempting to enter a room in Barrows. The male subject was located, identified and advised not to be in any College building unless accompanied by a student. The male subject was escorted from the building.
9:42 p.m. officer responded to a report of a locker being broken into at Philips Gym. The lock on the locker had been broken off, but all items in the locker were intact.
