Student Senators don't hear enough complaints.
At Sunday's meeting, Senators discussed establishing a complaint line for students. An ad hoc task force was formed to reach a final decision on the matter and advertise the forums.
The Senate also set up two additional task forces during the meeting, one to investigate alternative funding sources for Oberlin Aid to Strays (OAS) and another to meet with Vice President of Finance Andy Evans.
Junior Susannah Telsey, representing OAS, said OAS needs $13,000 to run its animal shelter but only currently receives $2,000 from the Student Finance Committee
Student senator senior Chapin Benninghoff expressed concern that the administration was trying to keep students out of the process to select a replacement for former Associate Dean of Residential Life and Services Deb McNish. "They want to keep it in-house for as long as possible, until they winnow it down to 2 or 3 people who are essentially the same. They won't let students in until they rabble-rouse. It's time to start rabble-rousing."
The Senate voted to appoint a delegation to visit Evans, who is chairing the committee in charge of selecting McNish's replacement. Benninghoff noted that his previous scheduled appointment with Evans about the matter was canceled.
The following is a list of Senate appointments to advisory councils and committees.
