Arts...Out of Town

Your opportunity to flee Oberlin for a good five days or so will happen soon enough with Thanksgiving next week, but in the mean time, treat yourself to an early break and get out of town. Share some Buffalo wings and beer with the cast of Moon Over Buffalo, or go see Eddie Money at the Odeon. Be quick...before your car freezes up on you.

Satantango, a European film portraying post-Communist Hungary in a short seven hours, has earned a grip of critical acclaim for its monumental depiction of impoverished villagers and the travesties facing their every-day lifestyles. Unfortunately, the first half showed last night, but catch the conclusion of Satantango tonight at 7: 30 p.m. at the Cleveland Cinematheque. Admission is $6. For more information, call (216) 421-7450.

Lords of Acid play the Odeon tonight. (They may not be real lords; they may not even do acid, but no matter.) Tickets available through Ticketmaster at (216) 241-5555. For more information, call (216) 574-2525.

The Cleveland Musem of Art's Music in the Garden Court tonight features Bhratanatyam, classical Indian dance performed by Sujatha Srinivasan. The concert begins at 7 p.m. For more information, call (216) 421-7340.

Through Nov. 23 at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Fainting Spells: The Uninvited displays a "lovely storytelling, haunting dance and a stirring evening of theatre," as the Seattle Times put it. Choreographed by Dayna Hanson and Gaelen Hanson (of no relation), both of Seattle, the work is a combination of dramatic and visual tension. Performances are at 8 p.m. through Nov. 22, and Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. Admission is $12. For more information, call (216) 292-3535.

The French flick Diary of a Seducer, based on Kierkegaard's work, has left a mark on audiences with a bite like no other romantic comedy. Called "an exhilaratingly heady film, as smart as it is romantic." The film shows at the Cleveland Cinematheque Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 9:25 p.m. Admission is $6. For more information, call (216) 421-7450.
