In a letter published in this issue of the Review, sophomore Gillian Russom claims the College rescinded an invitation for labor leader John Sweeney to speak at Commencement.
According to Secretary of the College Bob Haslun, no invitation was issued.
Haslun said, "John Sweeney was not invited to Commencement either as Commencement speaker or an honorary degree receipient."
Haslun said Sweeney has been invited to speak on campus this semester. Sweeney has not yet responded.
Haslun would not reveal who has been invited to speak at Commencement. He expressed regret that a confidential document which was circulated among the Honorary Degrees committee had been leaked.
