While Conservatory students spent hours diligently practicing in private, other Obies chose to take their music to the great outdoors and beyond. 1998 witnessed the premiere of the Winter Term Oberlin Marching Band (first image) who went on to perform choreographed "Star Trek" numbers at basketball and rugby games. Campus bands like the Vegan Eaters and Back To Junk wailed at the 'Sco, while other students chose to jam on Wilder Porch. This year more than ever, it became obvious that every student was capable of making their own music, no matter what their background.
