Limouze and Roberts win Review honors



First-year John Limouze, took fifth place in the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in St. Louis, MO on March 22. He finished with a time of 1:52.21 in the meet..

Limouze dominated his events, the 200-yard backstroke, butterfly and individual medley, all season. He took third in the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAC conference.

It is this that has earned Limouze the Yeoman of the Year Award.

Runners up:
Senior Sam Krasnow received All-NCAC Honorable mention honors leading the team with goals as the captain of a 2-14-1 soccer team. He rallied up 36 points total for the men's lacrosse team.

Senior quarterback James Parker, a four-year starter for the Yeoman currently holds the record for the most passing yards in an Oberlin Career. Parker received All-NCAC Honorable Mention last Fall.

Senior Harsha Thirumurthy, earned All-NCAC second team for his performance in cross country, after spending a month recovering from an injury suffered during the preseason. In indoor track, Thirumurthy set a record for his performance in the meet.



Against all odds senior Katherine Roberts has won the much-coveted Yeowomen of the Year award for a second straight year. Roberts chose not to run indoor track this year. She instead exceled at two varsity sports, taking All-Conference honors and proving the invalubility of her presence.

She made All-NCAC first team at midfield for women's lacrosse, scoring 51 goals over the season and averaging four goals per game.

As a soccer player Roberts has achieved all-conference honors all four years at Oberlin, setting records in scoring, assists and number of games in a career.

Runners up:
Senior Trista Thornberry finished her stellar four-year career as a runner by flying over the ground and breaking numerous varsity records. Besides, being a late joiner to cross country, she finished received ALL-NCAC second team honors for her performance in the 1500-meter run at the NCAC 1998 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In indoor track and field Championships she set two Oberlin Varsity Records.

Thornberry placed first in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.77, she was a member of the women's 4x400 meter relay which finished third and set the Oberlin Varsity Record in the event. In the 800-meter finals Thornberry wound up third and set another Oberlin Record in the event with a time of 2:23.13.

Junior swimmer Clara Stemwedel had a superb season in which she broke the women's 1000-yard freestyle record in a practice and reset records in the 200, 500 and 1650-yard freestyle races at the NCAC.

Trackster junior Nicole James continued to set and reset the women's indoor 300 and 400-meter runs. In James' first 300-meter in 43.70 and 400-meter races in the 62.19. James was also a member of the 1600-meter relay team which in January shattered the Oberlin Record by seven seconds.
