COMMENTARY

First-year's first impressions

We talked to the class of 2002 about what they thought of Oberlin College...

Rachel Crumpler:
I don't know.

Mark Barden:
Everyone is really friendly and they make you feel welcome.

Gail Gardner:
Well, I've been here a few times, so this isn't really a first impression. It's definitely different.

Josh Hartshorne:
I'm barely awake, so I didn't really notice much on the way in.

Tyrel Raba:
I guess my first impression is that everyone is really intensely polite. It's a good, friendly atmosphere.

Rachel Roberts is a transfer student.
It's going to be a big change for me because I'm from New York. I'm not used to silos and cows-it's very spacious here. The people seem very friendly and interesting.

And to Returning students during Move-in-Madness

Tony Carfagna:
Their cars are full-they know how to pack. They all look pretty normal.

Miranda Balkin:
They're all taller than me.
