Review welcomes everyone

So you're back reading the Review, glancing over articles, chuckling through photo captions and thinking about your weekend. Well before you recycle us, we'd like to briefly introduce this semester's Review staff and share a few thoughts with you.

The Review is being co-edited this semester by Abby Person and Susanna Henighan. Co-editorship is a new arrangement for the Review. We hope this set-up will let us pay better attention to all parts of the paper and work more carefully with staff.

This year's managing editor is Zach Williamson. He oversees all production aspects of the paper, from advertising to layout, and picks up the slack everywhere else.

Everyone should also know about the hard-working section editors who really make the paper each week. News editors this semester are Merredith Collins, Ben Clark and Russell Menyhart. Arts editors are Alisa Heiman and Rumaan Alam. Our sports editor is Glenn Kaplan and our commentary editors are Amie Ely and Jeff Little. Photo editors are Heidi Good, Stephen Menyhart and Noah Mewborn.

Our staff is very young; of these section editors only three have been editors in the past. We have great confidence in their abilities and dedication and are hopeful their new blood will bring energy to these pages. We ask you, though, to remember many are new to their jobs.

We hope you will feel comfortable contacting the Review if you have any concerns or news we should know about. Similarly, if you feel coverage of an event or issue was poor, let us know. We are always glad to hear what people think about the Review.

At the same time, we ask you to remember our writers and editors are students. We are learning how to put together a newspaper, write, edit and take pictures. The Review is the one forum at Oberlin students have to learn about journalism. We try our best, but often fail to produce the best paper we could.

Naturally, the Review is always looking for new staff. If you are interested in writing, photographing or laying out for the Review please stop by or give us a call. We welcome everyone.
