"Thwack."

Women's Soccer
Oberlin vs. Baldwin-Wallace
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.
How much homework do you get done while you're working?
Why do you only check some IDs?
Are you an athlete?
Are there some regulars that you've met just by being here?
Is your chair comfortable?
How does this job tie into your future career plans?
Is there anything you would like to tell all the people who come here?
There are a lot of mosquitoes around here. How many mosquito bites have you gotten sitting here?
Are there some people that are too smily?
Ow.

IN THE LOCKERROOM WITH...Jabari Spruill
Junior Jabari Spruill works the front desk at Philips. A constant source of mystery, we decided to talk to the front desk worker on duty for a moment.
I actually get a lot done. This is the third time I've worked and the last two times I got a lot of reading done. It's more reading than problem solving work.
From what I know I'm supposed to give these orange stickers to everyone and I have bigger ones to give to faculty. It's just to track the numbers of people using the gym.
Yeah. I play football. My very first job here was working for my football coach and now I'm just doing other things. With the new rec director, they're trying hard to get more students here and plus they extended the hours during the week which is cool.
Actually there are. In the free weight room one day an old guy came up to me and started talking. I'm from Charleston, South Carolina and he told me about his trip to Charleston.
Not really. It's just kind of bare and flimsy. I have to get up and walk around every once in a while. I don't think they'd spend money getting the front desk guy a new chair.
I have to be able to communicate with people and be friendly.
I kind of get annoyed when people come in and ignore the sign that says you're supposed to show your ID. Some people just walk right by.
Ow. Only one. Just one today.
Laugh. No I haven't run into any extra smily people.
