Sorry Skankers: While Bim Skala Bim put on a good performance last friday at the 'Sco, the turnout for the show was less than stellar. Those who did come had plenty of room to dance and skank. The horn section resounded above the previously lauded bass. The band has gotten consistently good on-the-road reviews, with Dan Vitale often praised as one of the better vocalists on the ska circuit. Their fan base is solid and has been over the years, but the lack of advertising for the show contributed to the less-than-ideal turnout. Since the core of the band has been together since 1983, with a consistent tour schedule throughout, the group is familiar with all types of venues and crowds. And while the band's repertoire runs the gamut from smooth and swinging to rough and sweaty, the audience participation is what found the show sorely lacking. The show was one of the first of the year from the college's Concert Board. Fishbone comes next week, and Concert Board is working on a full schedule for the rest of the school year. The 'Sco and Finney Chapel will host a large variety of shows through the rest of the year. (photo by Leslie Torre)
