October 2, 8:20 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a beeping noise in the basement of Lewis House. The responding officer discovered the presence of smoke. Oberlin Fire Department responded to find a smoke detector had been activated by a hot water boiler system.
3:25 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a stolen bike taken on Monday, Sept. 28 at approximately 10 a.m. from in front of Dascomb. The bike, parked unlocked, was a black Dunelt 3-speed men's bike valued at $250.
2:35 p.m. Officer responded to Barrows Hall for a report of a disagreement between two students over ownership of some photographs.
4:57 p.m. Officer responded to a request from a student living off-campus for assistance with two students arguing at her residence. The responding officer assisted with arrangements with staff for the two students to meet later in the day to discuss their disagreement.
8:55 p.m. Officer responded to assist a visitor who had lost her footing and fell on the last step exiting the front of the museum.
October 3, 8:50 p.m. Officer responded to the Conservatory to meet with two students who reported that a white male, age 40, with a thin build, long hair and small beard had exposed himself to them to them at the corner of Morgan and Cedar Streets. The Oberlin Police Department was also notified and responded.
October 5, 6:42 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a vehicle which was damaged in Willard Court parking lot. The vehicle, a 1998 Honda Civic, parked from Friday, Sept. 25 until Friday, Oct. 2 in Willard Court suffered damage by both exterior rear-view mirrors being torn from the vehicle.
8:38 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a Delta Rangle Mettler PJ360 balance, value $1000, missing from Kettering from August until Oct. 5.
8:38 a.m. Officer responded to a report of vandalism to the bulletin board in Wilder Bowl outside of Cox Administration Building. Words written in black marker were present on the writing ledge and some of the messages present suffered burn marks.
8:54 a.m. Officer found that a bicycle secured in the women's locker room missing from Crane Pool. The bicycle is a black men's GT "Outpost Trail" mountain bike, value $285.
4:30 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a verbal altercation by one runner on the indoor track at Philips towards another runner. Both parties involved were contacted to make a report.
7:47 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the third floor of Dascomb. A smoke detector was activated by dust present in the detector.
October 6, 8:52 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Dascomb. A room smoke detector activated the alarms by apparent malfunction.
2:04 p.m. Officer and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Asia House. A room smoke detector was found to have been activated. Candles, which are prohibited in residential halls, were present in the room.
4:30 p.m. Officer responded to a report that a rear tire of a bicycle was missing. The bike wheel with a seven-gear cartridge was removed from a bike secured to a rack outside Kade at 1:15 p.m.
5:40 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a missing computer chair at King Building. A student, who was observed removing the chair from the computer lab, was contacted and the chair was recovered.
11:42 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a black male in his mid-thirties, medium height and stocky build masturbating at approximately 9:45 p.m. on West College Street near Harkness.
October 7, 4:10 a.m. Officer was advised that the DJs at WOBC were making prank phone calls to students and surrounding businesses.
4:36 a.m. Officer observed four non-college white males on the north side against Allen Art Building. The males fled this area; one of the group was stopped and identified. Oberlin Police Department also responded.
