Admit it. Despite every noble intention you may have had, you still haven't gone to the Allen Memorial Art Museum. It is completely understandable; what with classes, studying, a job and team practice all going on, who has time?
There's no longer any excuse. "Art After Hours" is a program that takes place one Friday evening every semester and features the museum's exhibits as well as food, wine and a musical performance by Conservatory students in a casual atmosphere. Last spring, "Art After Hours" attracted a crowd of over 600 people. It's free, and a chance to meet Sharon Patton, the new director of the museum.
Tonight's program features the current exhibits "Prints After 1960," which closes Tuesday, and "A Sense for Scale II: The Art of the Miniature," followed by gallery talks with curators Stephan Jost and Betsy Weiseman.
The musical performace is by White Wall Duo, a group whose mission is "to break down the stereotypes of classical music." Formed last year by Conservatory seniors Esther Noh and Thomas Rosenkranz, the duo performs eclectic styles of work from extreme modern compositions to grunge rock.
Art After Hours will be in the Allen Memorial Art Museum from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.
