Art Appreciation:Junior Sara Freeman was one of the students, who along with faculty, staff, and locals leapt at the opportunity to see the work of the art faculty. Freeman admires the work of visiting photographer Pipo Nguyen-Duy. Associate Professor Sarah Schuster had a large installation on view in Fisher Hall.
Assistant Professor Nanette Yanuzzi Macias collaborated on an installation with Faculty in Residence Adenike Sharpley in the unused Crane Pool. Assistant Professor of Art Johnny Coleman showed a sculptural piece along with Nguyen-Day's photographs. Professor John Pearson and wife Audra Skuodas, and Assistant Professor Lynn Lukkas opted to open their private studios to the viewing public.
The evening of art, which was up against some stiff artistic competition, was well-attended by those who opted not to see the opera that weekend. Despite the wealth of talent on display, it was really the children of the artists who stole the hearts and attention of most attendees. There was a nice sense of intimacy to the evening in which artists candidly discussed their work with their visitors and students roamed town in twos and threes, en route to different gallery spaces. Despite short notice, the evening was generally felt to be a success.
