The following is a compilation of weekly reports from the Office of Safety and Security.

Dec. 3, 12:56 a.m. Officer received information from the Nord Center in Lorain about student in distress, for whom they had only a first name, and no college affiliation. Information was shared internally within the College to attempt to identify whether a student was the subject of the report.

Dec. 3 9:54 a.m. Officer responded to a report of a student who was ill at Dascomb. The student, who had fainted in a restroom, was transported to Student Health for treatment.

1:34 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a student from Barrows who reported thefts of small amounts of cash from his room occurring over a one-week time period. The student also reported the thefts to Oberlin Police Department.

Dec. 4, 12:56 a.m. Officer responded to a report from a student in Barrows that upon hearing her room window break, she observed two persons running away from the area.

2:28 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the third floor of Harkness. The smoke detector had been activated by steam from a broken hot water pipe.

Dec. 5, 1:48 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the second floor of Talcott. A room smoke detector had malfunctioned.

2:08 a.m. Officer observed an officer from Oberlin Police Department who had stopped two students on S. Professor Street. One student was cited to Oberlin Municipal Court by Oberlin Police for drinking alcohol in violation of the open container ordinance.

2:33 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Allencroft. The alarm had been activated by steam from cooking in the second floor kitchenette.

7:21 p.m. Officer responded to a report by a student from Noah that between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. an unknown person had written on the room door message board the message, "I know where you live." The content of the message was reported as the author of the message was not known to the student who lives in the room.

Dec. 6, 1:33 a.m. Officer, while on patrol, observed a window broken in the south door of Asia House.

1:08 p.m. Officer responded to a report from a student that she was harassed while walking on South Professor by a juvenile on a bicycle who growled at her as he rode past her twice. The juvenile, who was differently-abled, and his parents were contacted to address the situation.

1:23 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a bicycle stolen from the rack in front of Mudd Library. Taken was a yellow J.C. Penny men's three speed bicycle valued at $15. The bicycle was not locked at the time it was taken.

3:08 p.m. Officer responded to the theft of a live trap placed on the east side of the Conservatory. The trap, last seen on Friday, December 4, is a 2.5' x 1' x 1' wire box, valued at $70.00, used by "Oberlin Aid to Strays" to catch abandoned cats.

8:29 p.m. Officer responded to a report by a student from South Hall requesting assistance in addressing unwanted mail and telephone contacts through a restraining order. The student was placed in contact with Oberlin Police Department for additional information.

Dec. 7, 4:38 p.m. Officer responded to a report by a student that on Sunday, December 6, a student interrupted the 10:30 p.m. house counsel meeting by making verbally abusive statements toward the group attending the meeting. The matter was also reported to Residential Life and Services.

6:14 p.m. Officer responded to a report by a student that a backpack, left in the hallway outside the Jazz Studios in Hales between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. had been stolen. The yellow backpack contained a wallet, six dollars in cash, a back card, checkbook, and identification card.

Dec. 8, 9:15 a.m. Officer responded to a report by a student from South Hall of inappropriate behavior by another student from the dorm in which the student was pulled down the hallway causing rug burns on the student's back and stomach. The matter was also reported to Residential Life and Services.
