April 1, 10 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Snack Bar of Wilder Hall. Steam released from a bag of popcorn activated the alarm.
10:56 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Service Building. Toast made in a microwave caught fire and activated the alarm.
April 2, 1:54 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Harkness. The alarm was activated by a bucket of steaming hot water near the detector.
1:13 a.m. Officer responded to assist a student who jumped from a swing, slipped on wet grass and fell hitting his back and head on the ground. The student was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital Urgent Care for treatment.
9:15 p.m. A nurse from St. Mercy Hospital in Toledo reported a student was injured in an automobile accident in Ottawa County. Residential Life was notified.
11:25 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a suspicious male at the restroom window of Burton Hall asking for entry to the building. The window screen was found ripped. No entry was gained. A work order was filed for repairs. The male was not located.
April 3, 6:09 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Talcott. The alarm was activated by a malfunctioning smoke detector
April 4, 4:15 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Asia House. The alarm was activated because the smoke detector was placed in the test setting.
5:15 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Allen Art Building. Alarm activation was caused by residue from a discharged fire extinguisher.
5:53 p.m. A resident of Allencroft reported receiving unwanted phone calls from a non-student male to whom she had given her phone number.
8:19 p.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the second floor of Langston Hall. The alarm was activated by a malfunction in the system.
April 5, 4:40 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Hales Gym. The alarm was activated by a temperature change in the basement.
1 p.m. A student reported the theft of a Macintosh computer system with keyboard and printer valued at $600 and a Sentry four bolt fire safe valued at $200 from his room in North Hall. The theft was also reported to Oberlin Police Department.
10:09 p.m. The Residential Coordinator in Burton Hall reported a round table, about three feet in diameter, three and one half feet tall and brown in color, missing from the lounge.
April 6, 7:57 a.m. Officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the third floor of Dascomb. The alarm was activated by a malfunctioning smoke detector.
8:34 a.m. A student reported her 1991 Chevy Cavalier had been broken into in the Union Street lot overnight. The driver's window was broken and an Aiwa stereo receiver cassette, a Sony CD player, and 25 CDs valued at $875 were taken from the vehicle. The incident is under investigation by the Oberlin Police Department.
11:08 p.m. Officer responded to assist an ill student who lives in Dascomb Hall.The student was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital for treatment
April 7, 12:48 a.m. Officer responded to a request to check on the well-being of a student in Kade. The student who had been fasting was contacted and Residential Life staff was notified of the report.
2:24 a.m. Officer responded to a report of suspicious persons looking into vehicles in Union Street parking lot. Three juveniles from Elyria aged 14 to 16 years old were apprehended. Oberlin Police Department was notified and a fourth juvenile, age16, was found in a blue 1990 Dodge Caravan that had a damaged dashboard. All four youths were charged with criminal trespass and curfew violations. The 16-year-old juveniles were additionally charged with possession of criminal tools, criminal damaging, and complicity to criminal damaging. All four were released to a parent pending appearance in Lorain County Juvenile Court.
