Security Notebook


The following is a compilation of weekly reports from the Office of Safety and Security.

Nov. 26, 9:45 a.m. Safety and Security and Oberlin Fire Department units responded to a fire alarm at the Environmental Building. Construction workers spraying floor sealant activated the alarm.

Nov. 26, 3:43 p.m. An officer responded to a report from a resident of Langston Hall of threatening phone calls. The student was told of several avenues he could take regarding the calls. The complaint is being investigated by the Safety and Securtiy Office.

Nov. 27, 9:54 p.m. An officer, while on routine patrol, observed a person who was not a student enter Dascomb. It was determined that the person was the companion of a student resident with authorization to stay for the weekend.

Nov. 27, 10:49 p.m. An officer received a report from a Lorain County Hockey Association employee of another employee filling his vehicle gas tank with gasoline used for their equipment. The matter was handled internally.

Nov. 28, 12:55 p.m. An officer responded to a report from a residential life staff member of an attempted breaking and entering to an apartment and the main living room of Tank Hall. Several screen latches were broken and screens were bent. The Oberlin Police Department was notified.

Nov. 28, 1:15 p.m. An officer, while on routine patrol, observed offensive pictures hanging on the bulletin board in the lobby of Zechiel House. The pictures were removed.

Nov. 29, 5:20 a.m. An officer, while on routine patrol, discovered a television missing from Talcott lounge area. An RC later reported it was removed to be repaired.

Nov. 29, 2:00 p.m. An officer transported a student to Allen Memorial Hospital for treatment of a chin injury. The student was performing a handstand in dance class at Warner and fell forward, hitting his chin.
