Sept.
13, 11:23 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of the odor of marijuana coming from a room in Noah Hall. The immediate
location of the source was not determined, but residential life
staff will make a follow-up.
Sept.
13, 8:45 a.m. In Asia House on the first floor a student cooking
in a room activated a first floor hallway smoke detector.
Sept.
13, 8:05 p.m. In Wilder DeCafé a smoke detector was activated
by popcorn cooking in the microwave.
Sept. 14, 11:23 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to
a report of a medical emergency at Harkness House. Officers assisted
a student with a diabetic reaction. The student was treated at Oberlin
Medical Center after being transported there by ambulance.

14, 9:29 a.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of furniture stacked in the main lounge. The furniture was replaced
and residential life staff will follow-up on the incident.

14, 2:46 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of furniture stacked in the main lounge. A tabletop was also dismantled
from its base. The lounge was closed until the furniture was replaced.
Residential life staff will follow-up in the incident.
Sept. 14, 2:46 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a
report of damage to a side mirror of a silver Mazda parked in Philips
lot. It appeared the damage could be accidental.

14, 2:46 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a South
Main Street store where a student thought she had possibly recovered
a bicycle stolen two weeks earlier. Oberlin Police Department was
notified to investigate.

14, 8:32 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of comments made by a customer observing the perceived nationality
of a student in a downtown establishment. The student wanted to
report the incident to raise safety awareness.

14, 4:03 a.m. At the Oberlin Inn an employee accidentally activated
a pull station.
Sept.
15, 2:35 a.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of an alleged sexual assault on an Oberlin student, by an Oberlin
student, in an off-campus student residence adjacent to north campus.
The case is under investigation by the Oberlin Police Department.
Camille Hamlin Mitchell, the Administrator of the Sexual Offense
Policy, as well as the Offices of Safety and Security, Residential
Life, and the Dean of Students is conducting a parallel investigation,
consistent with College protocol.
Sept.
15, 3:42 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of a student/landlord disagreement. A staff member from the office
of Student Affairs assisted in mediating the issues.
Sept.
15, 7:24 a.m. South Hall third floor restroom fire detector went
off from activation of a heat detector; possible malfunction and
a work order was filed to replace it.
Sept.
16, 2 a.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report of
a student pounding on the residential hall room door of another
student, shouting obscenities. The officer made contact with both
parties and the offending student agreed to cease further contact.
The case was referred to the associate dean/judicial board coordinator.

16, 12:30 p.m. A student cooking rice left it unattended and the
smoke activated a fire detector.
Sept.
16, 1:30 a.m. A fire detector went off in Langston. Officers and
the Oberlin Fire Department responded to the alarm but were not
able to determine a cause.
Sept.
17, 2:45 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of a bicycle stolen from the bike rack at Zechiel between late August
and Sept. 6. The bicycle was a blue-green Giant Boulder 500 18-speed
bike valued at $300. The bicycle was locked to the rack with a good
quality lock. The incident was also reported to Oberlin Police Department.
Sept.
17, 8:20 p.m. A Safety and Security officer responded to a report
of a student who was verbally harassed by one teenager in a group
of several teens on bicycles on Main Street. The teens encouraged
the offending teen to apologize for comments he made about the perceived
nationality of the Oberlin student, but he again continued his harassment
after apologizing. The student declined a police report, but wanted
to report the incident to raise safety awareness.

17, 9:20 a.m. In Barnard dust caused by a custodians vacuum
cleaner activated a smoke detector.
Sept.
17, 3:14 p.m. Science Center mechanical room had an accidental activation
of a fire alarm by contractors who were grinding a pipe.
