Say
No to the War
To the Editors:
I oppose the war for reasons similar to those officially
held by groups such as OCAW and A.N.S.W.E.R: the practicality of
peace (Military funding instead towards pending domestic issues,
preventing large American casualties and also unnecessary Middle
Eastern casualties, maintaining healthy relations with international
governments, etc.), the uselessness, hypocrisy, absurdity of a war
in Iraq, and preventing an imperialistic American legacy (furthermore)
headed by the likes of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and equally-minded
others.
But I do not maintain these reasons (for peace) because I believe
them to be intrinsically good, but rather because in the context
of this war on Iraq they remain the logical alternatives. Had the
war been a necessary course of action (which I admit cannot be known
at this point) such as was WWII, then justification for peaceful
dealings would have been inappropriate.
