Anti-war tagging unconvincing
To the Editors:
On my way to class this morning I was greeted by large graffiti on the North
Side of the Science Center that read No Iraq War. I had to stop a second and think
so that I could perhaps understand the rationale behind this spray-painted slogan. I came to the
conclusion that the person or persons who did this are first-rate morons. The display was one of
the most asinine actions I have witnessed in a long time.
Do these anti-war people really believe that a No Iraq War slogan painted on a brick
wall is going to change peoples views on the war? I know the first thing I said was, Damn,
youve convinced me now. I dont see how anyone could counter this elegant No Iraq
War argument.
Perhaps these ignoramuses believe that vandalizing our campus is the only way to get their voices
heard. Obviously, this mindset is laughable since anti-war sentiments dominate the political dialogue
on this campus. Finally, I wonder who exactly these hooligans believe will have to clean up the
mess they have made? Do they believe that it will be the conservatives who sit atop the executive
ranks of the college? Dont make me laugh. It will be the janitors. It will be someone from
the lower classes of society.
Ironically, these are the very people that these anti-war advocates are trying to protect from
getting blown to bits. Dont let the innocent, working-class die in a rich mans
war! Let them clean up the graffiti of ignorant, rich white kids who think they know everything!
In conclusion, I sure hope that no prospective students come and visit the campus and see it littered
with foolish slogans. The thing we need most here is more normal people who think like me. The
thing we need least is more imbeciles who think being politically-active by illegally voicing their
opinion is the hip/cool thing to do. Down with stupidity!
