Trumpet at Oberlin is multifaceted. The thumbs up signal is from Sean Jones, visiting assistant professor of jazz trumpet, during a lesson with one of his students.
In addition to the Conservatory of Music’s rigorous curriculum for classical and jazz trumpet majors, high schoolers and hobbyists of all ages can come to Oberlin each summer for 10 days of intensive study in trumpet fundamentals, pedagogical skills, and performance. Associate Professor of Trumpet Roy Poper and guest teacher Arto Hoornweg of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra lead the Trumpet Workshop.
