Anuradha Dingwaney Needham, Donald R. Longman Professor of English, encourages discussion in a first-year seminar class. Chair of the English department, Needham’s areas of expertise include Anglophone literatures of the “Third World,” British Romanticism, post-structuralist theory, post-colonial theory, new wave Hindi film, and feminist theory.

Needham’s recent scholarship has explored the work of legendary Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal, and her book about his work, New Indian Cinema in Post-Independence India: The Cultural Work of Shyam Benegal’s Films, was published by Routledge in 2013. In fall 2011, she taught a class on and hosted a question and answer session with author Salman Rushdie, about whose work she has published.
