Description

In 1998, the National Science Foundation recognized Oberlin College with the prestigious Award for the Integration of Research and Education (AIRE).  Oberlin is one of only 10 colleges and universities nationwide to receive the $500,000 award.  The award is in recognition of Oberlin's innovative past efforts in creating synergy between its research and education missions and for what Oberlin College has proposed to do in the future.

Goals

Oberlin College will use the award over the next four years to:

  1. expand Oberlin's efforts to integrate research and education into all levels of the curriculum
  2. promote discussion on how to improve curriculum development
  3. develop the framework to assess curricular reform, and
  4. disseminate the lessons learned to the national and local community.
