Flasher deserves our praise, not punishment

To the Editor:

I am very upset about how the topic of flashing was dealt with in the March 8 issue of the Oberlin Review. The negative light shed on flashers seems to me a reflection of society's negative attitude toward the body in general.

It seems also a bit hypocritical to arrest a single man harmlessly prancing about in the buff, yet applaud a sweaty and disgusting bunch of naked Oberlin College students crammed into the Dionysus Dance Club jumping around in illegally intoxicated states on Safer Sex night. Could ageism/classism be an issue here?

Personally, I feel entertained and excited at the prospect of seeing a naked man (or woman) confident enough in her individuality and body image to display herself solo in public. For this act, reward, not punishment, is in order.
