Athletes deserve more support from students

To the Editor:
Oberlin athletes are discriminated against. Oberlin students often mock and ridicule athletes instead of supporting their fellow Obies. As a CRO, many of the people I work with are athletes. I have seen the great amount of work these people invest in their athletic organizations. Many athletes feel slighted when they are ignored or berated by their non-athletic peers. Quite a few of them have expressed this opinion to me.

Like the LGBU, athletes are student organizations whose members ARE Obies. I'm not trying to bash anyone over the head with this, but I do believe that such discrimination is a problem and needs to be discussed and dealt with logically and efficiently. My letter is a plea for student support of athletics on campus. PLEASE BE SUPPORTIVE OF EVERYONE'S ORGANIZATION, EVEN IF IT DIFFERS FROM YOUR OWN.
