Educate and Communicate

Whoops. The Feminist Majority protested in favor of an escort service that already exists.

Whoops again. The Student Senate scared poor Ohio PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) last week when it thought their petition to remain on campus had to be finished that night.

Whoopsie. Senate also thought that the Student Life Committee and the General Faculty had to approve OPIRG's petition, when, in fact Senate was put in charge of the entire process two years ago.

AND, hmm...protestors are calling President Dye's office to demand need-blind admissions back when it was done away with in 1993.

The pattern emerging here is: educate yourselves! The Tribe 8 protestors had it right by protesting outside of last week's General Faculty meeting to force dialogue about the censorship issues surrounding Tribe 8's October performance. Before anyone can begin to take serious action they must understand what is going on and make sure that lines of communication are open between themselves and the relevant institutional body.

All of the above mistakes could have probably been avoided with more serious attempts at communication between students and the administration than have happened recently.
