Students encouraged to donate used clothing and volunteer for charities

To the College Community:

The Newman Catholic Community, in coalition with Agape and the Oberlin Christian Fellowship, is organizing a used clothing drive on campus. Throughout the season of Lent, the forty days leading up to Easter, there will be boxes in dorms where you may deposit clothes you no longer need. The clothes will be taken to Catholic Community Services in Elyria. This organization provides a number of charitable services, including a free clothes bank for all who are in need. We encourage everyone among us to share what we have been given.

If you are interested in taking a more active role in the drive, you can help organize the collection for your dorm. Several dorms (Barnard, Baldwin, Harkness, Spanish House, Johnson House, Asia House, Russian House, Fairchild, Noah, and Zeke) do not yet have a box for collections. Organizing the effort for your dorm is as easy as getting one of your boxes from storage, putting up a few signs (which we will provide), and taking the clothes to a central collection point on campus when your box is full. We welcome the aid of all who wish to help.
