OC Archives Seek Responses

To the Editors:

The Oberlin College Archives is interested in documenting the Oberlin community’s response to the horrifying and unimaginable terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., that took place on the 11th of September.
We intend to acquire any personal reflections of members of the academic community and paper presentations given at student/faculty discussions. Of interest, too, would be copies of individual student or group projects relating to the national tragedy that may well be produced in courses taught during academic year 2001-2002.
So far, staff have acquired and collected for placement in the College Archives historical material on how this community managed the campus crisis. Types of documents collected include flyers, posters, campus-wide e-mails, pieces appearing on Oberlin Online and the most recent issue of The Oberlin Review covering these events.

For those students who may be considering paper projects that seek to compare the Oberlin response to the present national emergency with former ones, I might suggest that you consult the holdings of the College Archives. The Archives’ staff stand ready to assist you in whatever way it can.
