New Staff Cuts Concern MRC, Students, Campus

WIn an effort to curb its multi-million dollar budget deficit, the College recently announced plans to do away with the employee category of “intern.” This action will eliminate 25 positions, including four of the Multicultural Resource Center’s five coordinators. While this staff cut will affect various departments ranging from theater to athletics, the severe reduction in the MRC staff is particularly devastating. While the College has stated plans to create two new full-time MRC staff positions, many students remain skeptical.

Student Dance Show Masters More than Movement

This year’s annual Spring Back student dance concertwas a technically diverse and ambitious show that tried to master more than just movement. Held in Warner last weekend, the performance consisted of five pieces choreographed by students and two pieces choreographed by faculty.

Women’s Track First at Case

In an encouraging start to the outdoor track and field season, Oberlin’s women’s team won the Case Western Reserve University Invite, and the men’s team placed fifth out of eight teams, only one point out of fourth place.
